St. John's first-ever BIG EAST title in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, a silver-medal effort in the hammer throw and host of both scoring and finals qualifying performances highlighted a promising first day of competition for the Red Storm track & field team at the 2015 BIG EAST Outdoor Championship in Villanova, Pa. on Friday. Entering Saturday's final session at Villanova Stadium and with six of 22 total events scored so far, St. John's sits tied for third in the women's team standings with 29 points, even with DePaul and trailing only Marquette (34) and Villanova (68).
