Senior Danette Hinton became St. John's sixth-best hammer throw performer of all-time on the second day of the Victor Lopez Classic in Houston, Texas, on Friday afternoon, reaching 55.78 meters to place second in the competition and smash her previous personal best by over 4.5 meters. Hinton had just set a new personal best of 50.15 meters at the Spring Break Classic in Carolina, Puerto Rico, last week, and is coming off an indoor campaign in which she claimed the BIG EAST and Metropolitan indoor weight throw titles.
